What windows 10 End of Life means for users and businesses

Windows 10 support ends on October 14, 2025
Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, a move that will significantly affect millions of users worldwide. Microsoft Windows 10 is one of the most widely used operating systems, but what does its end of life actually mean for users, businesses, and IT professionals?
With Windows 10 reaches its End of Life, Microsoft will no longer offer updates, patches, or technical support for that product. This includes no more security updates, feature updates, and technical support. Without regular security updates, the computer will become vulnerable to cyberattacks, malware, and other security issues.
Here’s a quick example of why it is so important to upgrade: On September 10, 2025, Microsoft released security updates that fixed 80 security flaws in its software. Of the 80, 8 are rated critical and 72 are rated important in severity. These updates were for all Microsoft operating systems. Come November, there will be no updates for Windows 10.
Microsoft encourages users to upgrade to newer versions that benefit from modern technologies, improve security, and enhanced features. If you don’t upgrade before October 14, 2025, your computer becomes a target for malware, ransomware, and viruses. Another significant risk for not upgrading is loss of compliance. Continuing to use unsupported software could result in non-compliance with industry regulations and legal requirements.
Many older devices do not meet Windows 11 requirements. Users can use the PC health check here from Microsoft to assess compatibility. By upgrading to Windows 11, your systems will keep security updates and run efficiently.
